Monika Durbin and Bobby Griffin are former members of Carillon, the renowned handbell choir of the University of Southern Mississippi directed by Dr. Larry Smith. They have performed in concert tours and taught in workshops and festivals all over the United States, and overseas in Japan, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany. They have also had the distinct privilege of ringing under the baton of esteemed composer and clinician Dr. Donald E. Allured, and performing with solo artist Michèle Sharik of the California-based handbell ensemble Sonos.
The duo currently uses their handbell expertise in MoBo Bells, performing concerts of music for handbells and harp, providing instruction through workshops, and serving as clinicans for handbell festivals throughout the southeast. In 2007, they founded Resonance!, a community youth handbell choir for high school and college-age musicians. Monika and Bobby also use their handbell solo and small ensemble ringing skills by playing in Canticle, a non-profit organization that brings live music to residents of nursing homes, hospices, and other care facilities throughout the Pensacola area. They are both active members of the Pensacola Music Teachers Association, and currently serve on its Executive Board. Monika and Bobby are on faculty at the Hillcrest Baptist Church School of Music: Monika teaches flute, piano, and lever harp; Bobby teaches flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, and bassoon.
